What changed with Constitutional Amendment No. 131/2023
Since October 2023, Brazilians who acquire another nationality no longer lose their Brazilian nationality. Loss now only happens upon an express request to the Brazilian authorities, provided it does not result in statelessness, or when a naturalization is cancelled. Those who renounced their original Brazilian nationality may reacquire it, as provided by law.

Certificate transcribed at a Brazilian registry officeIf your birth certificate was transcribed at a Civil Registry Office in Brazil, you must request the annotation of nationality at the office where it was registered, once the legal requirements are met.
Certificate issued by a consulateIf the certificate was issued by a Brazilian consulate and never transcribed in Brazil, the consulate can issue a second copy. This is the first step towards reacquisition.
Suspended nationalityIf the certificate required the option of nationality and it was not made, your nationality may be suspended. Until it is regularized, consular services reserved for Brazilians are not available.
